Biography

Whilst at School, Alex was a prize winner at numerous UK festivals and competitions, including the Birmingham Music festival and winner of the Fred Southall prize, awarded by the ABRSM. He was then offered a place to study at Trinity Laban Conservatoire under the tutelage of Hilary Coates, one of the UK’s most in-demand professors. Whilst completing undergraduate studies, Alex was a two-time finalist in the John Longmire Beethoven Competition, selected to accompany for both the Senior and Junior Kathleen Ferrier competitions in addition to actively performing throughout the UK as a soloist, accompanist and collaborative musician. Alex graduated with First Class Honours. He was then offered a place to study with Noriko Ogawa at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he graduated with Distinction. Whilst completing studies at Guildhall, Alex was a finalist in GSMD’s Romantic Prize competition as well as a semifinalist in the Rachmaninoff International Piano competition. He has participated in masterclasses and studied privately with Professor Emeritus Christopher Elton, Alessandra Brustia and Carol Leone. Alex is a Visiting Teacher of Piano at Benenden School and Wellington College, he also held a similar position at Wycombe Abbey School. Recent performances include Rachmaninoff second Piano Concerto with the Wolverhampton Symphony Orchestra, Warsaw Concerto with Telford Concert Band and Jackfield Band in addition to performing alongside Soprano, Lowri Probert at Wigmore Hall. Alex recently recorded a newly commissioned work by Andre Fratto for Radio.
